  6.      The increasing cost of postage to mail letters and packages
  7. is bringing down our standard of living.  To remedy this
  8. deplorable situation, some counter control measures can be
  9. applied.
  10.      For example, if the stamps on a letter are coated with
  11. Elmer's Glue by the sender, the cancellation mark will not
  12. destroy the stamp:
  13.    the Elmer/s drives to form an almost invisible coating that
  14. protects the stamps from the cancellation ink. Later, the
  15. receiver of the letter can remove the cancellation mark with
  16. water and reuse the stamps. Furthermore, ecological saving will
  17. also result from recycling the stamps.  Help save a tree.

  19.      The glue is most efficently applied with a brush with stiff,
  20. short bristles.  Just dip the brush directly into the glue and
  21. spread it on evenly, covering the entire surface of the stamp. 
  22. It will dry in about 15 minutes.

  28.      For mailing packages, just follow the same procedure as
  29. outlined above; however, the package should be weighed and
  30. checked to make sure that it has the correct amount of postage on
  31. it before it is taken tothe Post Office.

  33.      Removing the cancellation and the glue from the stamps can
  34. be easily accomplished by soaking the stamps in warm water until
  35. they float free from the paper.  The stamps can then be put onto
  36. a paper towel to dry.  Processing stamps in large batches saves
  37. time too. Also, it may be helpful to write the word 'Elmer' at
  38. the top of the letter (not on the envelope) to cue the receiving
  39. party in that the stamps have been protected with the glue.

  41.      We all know that mailing packages can be expensive.  And we
  42. also know that the handicapped are sometimes discriminated
  43. against in jobs. The Government, being the generous people they
  44. are, have given the blind free postal service.
  45.      Simply address you envelope as usual, and make one
  46. modification. In the corner where the stamp would go, write in
  47. (or stamp) the words 'FREE MATTER FOR THE BLIND".  Then drop you
  48. package or letter in one of the blue fedral mailboxes.

  50.  DO NOT TAKE THE LETTER TO THE POST OFFICE, OR LEAVE IT IN YOUR
  51. MAILBOX.

  53.      Sounds very nice of the government to do this, right?  Well,
  54. they aren't that nice.  The parcel is sent library rate, that is
  55. below third class.  It may take four to five days to send a
  56. letter to just the next town.

  58.      This too is quite simple, but less effective.  Put the
  59. address that you are sending the letter to as the return address.

  61. If you were sending a $20 donation to the pirate's Chest, you
  62. would put our address (po box 644, lincoln ma. 01773) as the
  63. return address.

  65.      Then you would have to be carless and forget to put the
  66. stamp on the envelope.  A nice touch is to put a bullshit address
  67. in the center of the envelope.

  69.      Again, you MUST drop the letter in a FEDRAL mailbox.  If the
  70. post office doesn't send the letter to the return address for
  71. having no stamp, they will send it back for the reason of "No
  72. such address".

  88.      One last thing you might try doing is soaking a cancelled
  89. stamp off of an envelope, and gluing it onto one you are sending.
  90.  
  91. Then burn the stamp, leaveing a little bit to show that there was
  92. one there.
